A destination in itself, Mill Yard Café is in the pretty village of Morland in Cumbria's Eden Valley on the edge of the Lake District.

Oak floors, teracotta walls and a snug with a woodburning stove create the wonderful atmosphere people travel from far and wide to sample - as well as their delicious coffee and cakes! Herbs and sweet peas grow around the beautiful courtyard where you can relax in the summer months.

The cafe doubles as a local food shop and sells gifts and paintings which adds to the wonderful sense of community. The menu offers freshly cooked food using local ingredients from homemade cakes and scones to fish cakes with Thai chilli sauce. Also open Friday and Saturday evenings, the menu includes Sea Bass, Rib Eye Steak and Mushroom Stroganoff.

The neighbouring Travelling2 shop in the stables of Morland House offers a unique range of high quality travel clothing for men and women.

You are welcome to explore the four acre Victorian gardens of Morland House including the Rose Garden, the Beck Walk and the Quarry Garden.

See Morland church with the only Saxon tower in the North West of England - the oldest building in Cumbria still in daily use for its original purpose.

Morland is seven miles south east of Penrith in the centre of the Penrith, Appleby and Shap triangle, less than 15 minutes from Junctions 39 and 40 of the M6. It is in the Eden Valley, centrally situated for the Lake District, the Pennines, the Yorkshire Dales, Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall. Carlisle, Kendal and Keswick are all 25 miles, or 40 minutes drive. The picturesque village is surrounded by lush rolling countryside ideal for walking and cycling.
