The George and Dragon is a welcoming, cosy and beautiful country estate pub and restaurant with rooms. What makes this place so special is that its inspiration, history, passion and produce come from the Lowther Estate.

The pub’s celebrated chef Paul McKinnon does perfect justice to the slow grown breeds of beef, pork and lamb. The seasonal vegetables are home-grown and the mushrooms, wild herbs and berries are foraged for. The menu changes monthly and daily specials are on the blackboards.

The 18th century coaching inn has been lovingly restored by local craftsmen and the bar, restaurant and each of the ten bedrooms have been individually designed and decorated with paintings and photographs that tell stories of the Lowther Estate’s unique heritage. The George and Dragon is a special place to visit and enjoy excellent food, wines and local ales.

The ten rooms, each with en-suite bathrooms, contain beautiful crewel work materials, quality linens and custom made beds. Rates start from £63.75 for a single and from £85-£125 for a double.
