Low Sizergh Barn - A Special Place to Eat, Shop and Visit

Low Sizergh Barn

Low Sizergh Farm, Sizergh, Kendal
Cumbria, England, LA8 8AE

Phone: 01539 560426

Secretly Famous™ for…

Our unique insight into farming, with our cow milking viewing gallery in the tea room.

There have been cows at Sizergh (the name comes from a Norse word meaning summer pasture) since the 13th century when milk was produced for the castle across the fields. 21st century dairy farming continues with a farm shop, tea room, craft galleries, farm trail and organic growing company, Growing Well – an innovative social enterprise based at the farm which provides horticulture training, school visits and organic growing as a means of creating volunteering placements for local people recovering from mental health issues.

Bring your wellies and stroll on the 1.75 mile farm trail. It follows a beautiful route through fields and woodland, past the pond and vegetable beds. Learn more about the wood chip boiler that uses local timber to provide heat & hot water in the barn, and see the reed bed waste treatment system in action.

Exploring the nooks and crannies of the late 17th century barn you will see many products from the farm, some of which are used to delicious effect in our tea room where you can watch the cows being milked from the viewing windows at 3.30pm every day.

Products:
Farm Shop: The shelves are filled with a huge range of speciality foods, testament to the talents of small producers from Cumbria and beyond.
