White-haired Wallace was born in Glasgow's East End. He attended Glasgow School of Art during the 1950s and worked for Pringle and Donna Karan in New York, rubbing shoulders with the stars including Liam Neeson and Liza Minnelli.

He has lived a varied life as a designer (mainly of knitwear) in Scotland, New York, London and Italy – not forgetting a variety of Oriental countries.

He learned Italian running his bed and breakfast in Spoleto and loved meeting all his guests, without reserve. He found them interesting and polite enough to listen to all his stories! Now back in his homeland, he hopes the same will happen in Leith, the port of Edinburgh where his new adventure is beginning.

Wallace loves to host occasional art exhibitions and small music recitals from which he takes no percentage. He gets joy from having been the cause of satisfying and varied displays of invention.

With the energy of someone half his age and a lifetime of stories spending time with Wallace is just priceless.
